The birth of SIOEN FIRE: A mission to protect those who protect

In response to the unique challenges faced by fire services, SIOEN decided to create a division fully dedicated to firefighter protection: SIOEN FIRE.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to design firefighting suits that effectively protect firefighters in all situations, without compromising on safety, comfort, or durability.

SIOEN FIRE in Key Milestones

1990s

SIOEN develops its first multi-standard protective garments for emergency response teams.

2000

Creation of dedicated collections for structural firefighting.

2001

Acquisition of VIDAL in Graulhet (France), a company specialised since 1927 in leather jacket manufacturing and the maintenance of firefighters’ protective clothing.
This acquisition strengthens SIOEN FIRE’s expertise and capacity to deliver high-quality firefighting gear. It enables the development of a dedicated laundering centre and reinforces repair capabilities, both recognised at national level.

2002

The Sioen Group invests in a fire testing laboratory (thermal, mechanical and washing tests), giving new momentum to innovation.

2010

Launch of new generations of multilayer textile protective ensembles.

2017

Development of the first reactive fabric with no break-open after heat exposure.

2018

Development of innovative textile solutions promoting lightness, breathability and protection against particles.
Creation of a range of underwear adapted to firefighters’ operational constraints, including the launch of the first non-fire-resistant sports bra for female personnel.

2020

Adaptation of collections to comply with new European standards EN 469:2020, EN ISO 15384 and EN ISO 16689.

2022

Launch of the first evolutive jacket on the market: the TM system is patented. Introduction of the first jacket certified EN 469:2020 (X2, Y2, Z2), EN 469:2020 (X2, Y1, Z2) and EN ISO 15384.

2023

Sioen wins the first European tender including a textile ensemble designed with a fit adapted to female personnel.

Today

SIOEN FIRE equips thousands of firefighters across Europe and worldwide, from French fire brigades to South American emergency services and specialised units.
