Recycling Firefighter Garments
We are developing several projects aimed at recycling firefighter suits into flame-retardant nonwoven materials. However, the complexity of protective ensembles - due to their multi-layer structures, specialised components, and potential contamination - makes recycling more challenging than for stationwear and standard intervention garments. These simpler garments, typically made from a single fabric layer, offer more accessible and efficient recycling opportunities.
