Protecting your protection

Clean & care

At SIOEN FIRE, we know that the effectiveness of firefighter gear relies not only on its design — but also on how well it is maintained. To ensure optimal protection throughout the garment’s entire lifecycle, we conducted an in-depth study in close collaboration with active-duty fire and rescue services, specialised detergent manufacturers, a professional laundry federation and independent testing laboratories.
Clean and care

Our objective

To define rigorous washing and decontamination protocols tailored to the specific demands of firefighting gear
Through a scientific and pragmatic approach, we have developed several dedicated washing programmes that take into account:
- the types of contaminants encountered during operations (soot, hydrocarbons, chemical agents…)
- the nature of the technical materials used in our garments
- the need to preserve certified performance (thermal resistance, visibility, waterproofing, etc.)

We share these washing programmes with our clients and their service providers to help maintain protective qualities — and actively contribute to the safety of those we proudly consider everyday heroes.

Our Key Recommendations:

  1. Use suitable detergents without harsh bleaching agents

  2. Respect the maximum washing temperatures specified for each garment

  3. Visually inspect gear after every wash cycle

  4. Prioritise professional decontamination services after any critical exposure

At SIOEN FIRE, maintaining a suit means extending its lifespan — while ensuring firefighter safety during every operation. We provide our partners with practical guides, personalised care sheets, and training sessions upon request. To protect is also to maintain.
